Bboy Event App

We’ve started working on BboyEvent back in 2010. Being bboys ourselves we always struggled to find interesting event on different blogs and forums, and that’s why we’ve developed and released a website calendar that featured all breakdance events in the world.

Shortly after we’ve realised that it’d be handy to have this calendar “in the pocket” and that’s how we came up with the idea to create a separate app. 

Goals:

To develop convenient breakdance events aggregator that would allow users track upcoming battles.  

UX findings:

We’e created first prototypes and tested them on dozens of dancers. The healthy feedback made us realise the app is somehow missing interactivity and also users won’t understand intuitively how to use some features. Another finding showed that users wanted to save interesting events. 

Results: 

We created an interactive map where users could easily access events near them and track the coming battles in closest destinations and all over the world. We also marked new and “hot” events by special icons.

• Interactive map of events
• Handy and easy search by name, date and keywords
• “I am going” feature to save events in lists
• The ability to track past events
• The details information about each event: it’s judges, fees, location and prize.
